Verona Parks and Gardens: Photo of the Giardino GiustiFor visitors who can bear to tear themselves away from Verona's historic streets, there are plenty of other places to take a stroll - and enjoy some welcome peace and quiet, in the city's pleasant parks and garden. Verona boasts more green spaces than many other cities in the Veneto region of Italy. These include tiny picturesque squares and small neighbourhood gardens.

Verona's best-known park is undoubtedly the Giardino Giusti. With its many botanical attractions and unusual features, this park remains a firm favourite with both tourists and locals alike.

Located just a short walk from the centre, this most celebrated and charming of Verona's gardens is the perfect place to relax or enjoy a stroll. The Giardino Giusti is a remarkably well-preserved Renaissance garden that dates back to the late 16th century and was once enjoyed by the likes of Goethe and Mozart. There's certainly plenty to see and do. As well as flower beds, a cypress avenue, statues and fountains, the garden is brimming with footpaths, a labyrinth, water features, romantic grottos and even a winding staircase. From the top, visitors can get a wonderful view over the city. A good time to visit is during the spring, when there are far fewer visitors.
