Getting Around, Verona Travel and Verona Transport
(Verona, Veneto, Italy, IT)
Verona is a relatively small city and visitors will find that it's easy enough to travel around on foot from one major attraction to another. The fact that few cars are allowed into the historic centre of Verona makes it even easier to leave the car behind, and public transport is always on hand if needed.
With such beautiful countryside surrounding the city, it's naturally tempting to want to travel outside of Verona. It is possible to travel to many regional attractions, including Lake Garda, by public transport, using buses or coaches. For short distances, taxis really come into their own in terms of convenience.
Verona Travel and Transport: Travel by Air / Valerio Catullo Villafranca International Airport (VRN) - Verona, Italy, IT
The Valerio Catullo Villafranca airport is located approximately 10 km / 6 miles from the city centre. A frequent shuttle-bus service takes visitors to Verona's train station. An alternative airport is nearby Brescia Montichiari, which operates flights by Ryanair. Again, a bus service transports visitors into central Verona, providing a cheap way to travel to your chosen destination. Larger international airports are at Milan, Venice and Bologna.
Verona Travel and Transport: Verona Car Rental - Verona, Italy, IT
Verona is easily accessible by car thanks to the A4 motorway, which links Milan and Venice, and also the A22 motorway, which runs in a north-south direction. It's worth noting that the historic centre of Verona is closed to traffic, except for access by residents and those travelling directly to their hotels. However, parking is available nearby and visitors are advised to plan parking in advance of their arrival, to avoid delays.

The bus station in Verona is situated just across from the train station, at the Piazza XXV Aprile. City bus transport runs from here to the city's main square, the Piazza Brà. It's also possible to catch a bus from Verona to a variety of towns in the region, including Lake Garda, Vicenza, Padua and Venice. However, it's worth checking the price of a ticket and the timetable, as in some cases it is much easier to travel by train.
Verona Travel and Transport: Travel by Train - Verona, Italy, IT
Verona has a well-connected train service to Milan, Venice, Rome and Brennero. It's also possible to travel by train from Verona to Vicenza, Padua and Bologna. The main train station, Stazione Verona Porta Nuova, is located a short distance away from the very heart of the city centre.
